About Civista Health

Civista Health is a regional, not-for-profit, integrated health system serving Charles County and the surrounding areas of southern Maryland. Civista is derived from the dictionary term “civic” meaning “concerned with the general welfare and betterment of life for a community” and the term “vista” symbolizing the “broad vision and insight needed to meet the total health and wellness needs of our community.”

This is demonstrated by the reinvestment of our resources in the community, in the form of innovative technology, community health education, and care for the poor.

Civista Health is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that focuses on the mission, vision and strategic values of the system. Board members serve three-year terms, with potential re-election for two additional terms. Board members commit to approximately ten hours per month to Board-related activities and are committed to strategic thinking and creating an excellent health care system in Charles County.

Mission

Civista Health provides excellent care to each patient in a safe, caring and family-centered environment. Civista fosters a healthier community by providing service, education and access to care in concert with other community organizations.

Vision

Civista will be the preeminent healthcare provider for our community through: enhanced facilities, technology, and equipment; an excellent record of quality care and patient safety; highly responsive emergency services delivery; skilled workforce and excellent physician partners; and financial health to assure funds for re-investment.
