A Personal Thank You

Dear Fellow Employees:

Please allow this to serve as my notice to you that I will be retiring from Civista on
February 27.

I came to you as a staff nurse in 1979 and immediately felt the warmth and welcoming
that I sought from a community hospital. Here I was able to form lifelong friendships.
Here I learned from some of the best of you how to be an effective, professional, and
caring nurse. And when I was offered opportunities to move ahead in my career and to
assume leadership roles, you supported and advised me. For that and more, I thank you.
You have been my professional “family” for the past 30 years.

I do not yet have definite plans for how I will spend my retirement. I know I am eagerly
looking forward to having more leisure time to enjoy my gardens, golfing, traveling,
reading and spending precious time with my daughter and son-in-law and our two young
grandchildren.

I could not make this decision if I were not confident that Civista will continue on its
road to being one of the best healthcare providers in the state. We are certainly capable
of becoming as great as we desire to be.

We are blessed to have skilled, professional employees who are truly committed to this
community, talented physicians, dedicated volunteers, and an informed, educated Board
of Directors – all of whom are passionate about the Civista mission to provide our
community with excellent health care services.

Mr. Noel Cervino will serve as your Interim President and Chief Executive Officer until a
permanent CEO is named. I know it will be necessary to have a sustained, long-term
leadership commitment to achieve our goals, fulfill our mission, and take our
organization to its next level of accomplishment. I feel confident our Board of Directors
will appoint an individual equal to the task who will embrace this opportunity.

My very best wishes to each of you, along with my profound gratitude for the work you
do each day and for the support you have given me these past three decades. God bless
you all.

Sincerely,
Christine M. Stefanides, FACHE
President and Chief Executive Officer
