A Civista Experience

A Civista Experience: My Care was Truly Great

Recently, while playing basketball, I hurt my knee. Bad. It was one of those, “uh-oh, this is really bad” moments, when you know you just made a tiny mistake that will have a very heavy price. Having had sports injuries to the very same knee repaired before, I was obviously concerned about this latest blow-out.

I need to caveat this blog post by noting that Civista is one of NDG Communications’ clients; we recently delivered a brand new website for the healthcare provider. Even though all three of my children were born at Civista Medical Center, I’ve been reluctant to offer a testimonial because I didn’t want to seem biased. Now having been the actual patient there, I think it’s only fair to share what a great experience I had during my surgery at Civista.

My surgery was Jan 26th at The Civista Medical Center’s Outpatient Surgery Center, and Dr. Gregg Ferrero of Capital Area Orthopedic Associates was the surgeon. The process was incredibly easy. At 10:30am I was registered and into surgery prep within 10 minutes. The surgery prep nurses Clara and Mitu were really exceptional—they made me feel like I was the only patient there that day, met all my comfort needs, and explained everything in detail to ensure that I understood and was prepared. In fact, everyone involved in the surgery came in to discuss the procedure, answered any questions I had patiently and expertly, making me feel secure that I was in good hands.

In post-opt recovery, I had a nurse at my bedside for the entire time, always ready to extend a helping hand or provide pain management. Since the surgery lasted longer than expected, I was the last patient still in the surgical ward at the end of the day, and yet my nurses stayed with me until I was discharged to ensure that I was comfortable and able to go home. My care was truly great at Civista.

The overall experience was wonderful—at least as wonderful as surgery can be; I never had to wait for any request to be fulfilled, all my questions/concerns were carefully addressed, and the diligent and expert care provided made the entire situation far less stressful than it could have been. I am very proud to have Civista as an NDG client, and just as proud to have such a wonderful facility serving our community so well.
