It might not surprise you to know that with all the growth that Charles County has experienced, the dialysis population here has increased by more than 10% over the past three years. The hospital’s dialysis program has increased 25% in the past year and the projected number of treatments is projected to reach nearly 1200 treatments this year.
In order to meet the needs of our growing community, the Administration of Civista Medical Center has asked the Foundation board to earmark funds raised this year to help support the Medical Center’s effort to relocate and enlarge our existing Dialysis Center. The current space is inadequate, and improvements are being planned to improve patient safety, quality, efficiency, and growth capacity.
The space recently vacated by the pharmacy department will serve as the new location of the center. Plans feature a centralized station for nurses to complete treatments and monitor patients, and a care team will be dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable patient experience.
The Foundation board and volunteers are excited about this project and all that it will do for the Medical Center as it strives to meet the needs of our growing community.
