"I
could use my time today to revisit the history of our hospital
but that has been done before, when we built this hospital in
1963, when we added the west wing in 1985, and when we further
expanded in 1993. Many of you were there on those momentous
occasions, celebrating the fulfillment of our dreams of a hospital
which would have the most talented staff, the most dedicated
physicians, the most compassionate nurses, the most updated
equipment, and the newest in medical technologies. Today begins
the fulfillment of more of those same dreams, more items on
our wish list to continue providing high quality medical care
to our community."

Officer, Civista Health |

"There
is one thing about our hospital that will stay the same. And
that is our commitment to providing personal and compassionate
care to patients and their families. It is important that while
we must incorporate the latest 'high tech' into the medical
center's information and services, we must continue to retain
the 'high touch' patient care we are known for throughout southern
Maryland."

"The
new health information system with electronic medical records
will allow us to access a patient's record from multiple locations.
This will enable us to treat our patients in a more efficient
and safe manner...we are also looking forward to the private
rooms for patient/family consultations, new imaging equipment,
a new MRI, and infusion therapy services. Operating rooms equipped
with the new Picture Archiving Communications System will allow
us to view the patient's x-rays from all angles with instant
information."

"Having
the vision to be pro-active in expanding our hospital is vital
at this point in time. We are the second fastest growing county
in Maryland, and if our consultants are right, we will soon
be the first fastest growing county in the state of Maryland.
There is an obvious need to expand our hospital as well as bring
the state of the the art equipment. If projections are right
our population will grow approximately 25% by the year 2020.
This is about 63,000 more people. This is from the consultants
that have recently come before the commissioners. And it's imperative
that we have a quality hospital serving the needs of our citizens."
Wayne Cooper, President Charles County Commissioners

"You
will be seeing significant improvements in medical record keeping,
registration/admissions, and billing. Later this year fully
automated nursing documentation in the clinical areas as well
as physician order entry, including pharmacy, medications, and
bedside medications with bar coding for patients will be implemented.
In addition, we will institute an integrated nurse call system
to a wireless communication system, dramatically decreasing
overhead paging and allowing patients to speak directly to their
caregivers and physicians to communicate directly with nursing
staff."

"As
I look at our wonderful attendance for this great occasion today,
I see a tent full of friends of our Civista Medical Center.
So many of you have been to our events these past several years,
or served on our board of directors, and I see many Mardi Gras
King and Queen candidates here with us today. Our Foundation
is truly grateful for your support through the years which has
enabled us to provide for the needs of our medical center."

"This
is not about building a business whose product may become obsolete
in the next decade or so. It's about expanding the capability
to save lives. It's about assuring that your children and mine
have access to the finest medical care available today. Medical
care that our patients and their loved ones don't have to travel
miles to get to."
