Recent NewsHELEN HEIER TO ILLUMINATE CIVISTA'S CHRISTMAS TREE OF LIFE AT DECEMBER 5 CEREMONY On December 5, the Civista Health Foundation’s Christmas Tree of Life will shine brilliantly at Civista Medical Center and remain illuminated throughout the holiday season. The Foundation is pleased to announce that the Charles County Chamber of Commerce’s President-Elect Helen Heier has agreed to serve as our official illuminator of our holiday trees. A Waldorf resident, Heier is employed at Bridget Mock Associates in Waldorf and has been involved in the community for many years. Her husband, the late Bob Heier, was also an active leader in the Charles County community during his lifetime. Each sparkling light on the tree honors an individual, living or deceased, who has touched our lives. While many choose to memorialize family and friends, others elect to honor a teacher, mentor, co-worker or loved one. Some community organizations use this program to acknowledge their club as a whole or to memorialize past members of their organizations. There are two types of lights on the tree. A donation of $15 will secure
a single light on the tree in honor or in memory of an individual, business
or a community organization. Donors also can make a one-time gift of
$100 which will illuminate a special “angel” perpetual light.
The angels acknowledge these lifetime gifts each holiday season and
the honorees' name will be acknowledged in the program this year and
every year in the future. The Foundation invites the community to attend the illumination ceremony on Wednesday, December 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the new front entrance of the Medical Center on Garrett Avenue in LaPlata. Following the ceremony, guests enjoy holiday refreshments and festive music. To have a light or an angel shine in honor or in memory of your loved
one(s), please complete and fax the coupon found in the Maryland Independent
